Green Tea Berry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 8 single-serving bags of green tea
  • 3 cups frozen mixed berries (~16 ounces)
  • 2 medium bananas, peeled, cut in half and frozen
  • 1 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons fresh grated peeled gingerroot (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons chia or flax seeds (optional)

‍ Instructions

  1. Wash hands with soap and water.
  2. Add the water to a small saucepan. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Remove the pan from the heat.
  3. Add the tea bags. (Be sure the tea bags are submerged.) Let steep for 4 minutes. Discard the tea bags.
  4. Let the tea mixture cool for 30 minutes. Pour into a water pitcher. Refrigerate for 2 hours, or until chilled.
  5. In a food processor or blender, process the tea, berries, bananas, yogurt, gingerroot and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Pour into four glasses. Sprinkle with the chia seeds.
